Answers to the questions you’ve not even thought of yet

  • Treeapp is a leading global tree-planting organisation, helping both businesses and individuals create real environmental impact. As a certified B Corp and Social Enterprise, Treeapp plants where it’s needed most. Our projects span 5 continents and 20+ countries, with each site aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals relevant to the region.

To date, Treeapp has planted millions of trees and supported thousands of local livelihoods through long-term employment. Together, we are working towards a greener future for everyone.

  • Treeapp provides two services: one for businesses and one for individuals.

For businesses: Treeapp helps organisations integrate tree planting directly into their operations in the way that suits them best. This can include, for example, planting a tree for every product sold, event held or employee onboarded. We also offer API and no-code Zapier integrations so that trees are planted automatically whenever your chosen event is triggered.

If your organisation is looking to meet CSR goals, demonstrate environmental commitments to stakeholders or balance your carbon footprint through global tree planting, Treeapp can help. Get in touch here.

For individuals: Treeapp enables anyone to plant trees for free through our mobile app. Users can explore planting projects around the world, choose where to plant their trees and watch a short ad that funds the planting.

  • Planting with Treeapp is simple. Choose whether you’d like to plant on a one-off basis, through a monthly subscription or automatically via our API and no-code integrations. Select the location you want to support and we take care of the rest.

You can track your impact through satellite imagery, on-the-ground photos and videos and annual impact reports. You can also showcase your achievements through personalised impact pages that can be shared publicly, as well as a tree-counter widget for your website. Start your tree planting journey here.

  • Yes, of course!

Treeapp plants trees through a rigorous, science-backed process designed to ensure transparency, quality and long-term impact.

    Here’s how it works:

Expert oversight: All of the projects operated by Treeapp are guided by a board of tropical forestry experts who regularly review and refine the planting operations. They use machine learning data and site-level insights to continually improve accuracy, survivability and accountability of the planted areas.

Strict project selection: Every planting project goes through a detailed due diligence process to ensure it meets our standards for transparency, permanence, sustainability and community support. All sites are protected by local contracts that prevent land diversion and safeguard long-term impact.

Ongoing monitoring: We monitor every project remotely and physically. This includes satellite imagery, drone footage, on-the-ground photos and videos from planting teams and regular data reviews. We also conduct quarterly site surveys and biannual survivability assessments.

Transparent tracking: All partners and individuals can view tree-planting progress through open-source platforms like Restor.eco, providing visual updates from around the world, from the mountains of Nepal to the drylands of Ethiopia.

You can read more about our operations here.

  • Treeapp’s planting methods vary depending on the local environment, climate and ecosystem needs. Most commonly, trees are first grown in local nurseries to sapling size and then planted during the appropriate planting season for that region. In dry deciduous areas, seedlings may be planted earlier in their growth cycle to adapt naturally to the environment. For coastal restoration projects, such as mangroves, propagules are usually planted directly into the soil or sediment where they take root quickly.

Across all regions, every project must meet Treeapp’s strict criteria for transparency, responsible operations and long-term impact. We only work in areas with the appropriate planting methods, where local teams commit to continuous maintenance and monitoring of forest health, but most importantly in projects that ensure long-term land protection so the restored ecosystems can thrive.

  • Our app allows users to plant trees for free by watching ads. Every day, you select where you would like to plant and watch a short advert. This ad helps fund tree planting initiatives in the location you’ve chosen. You can also purchase additional trees, contributing to our reforestation activities. We help you track and absorb your carbon footprint by providing an estimation of the carbon absorbed by your trees.

  • The planting of trees is possible due to the funding we receive from advertisers. These are either the curated, sustainable companies we feature directly in our mobile app or third-party advertisers who display ads. The more ads you watch, the more money will go to our tree planting partners, and the more trees will get planted!

If you want to avoid watching ads and fund reforestation projects directly, you can always buy trees for yourself or as a gift, either monthly or one-off.

  • Treeapp and the trusted third-party companies we work with have stringent data policies. We use any data you choose to provide to improve the experience you receive in the app. To learn more, please read our Privacy Policy.

  • There could be a few reasons why the app isn’t working well for you. If you notice any issues in the app, please drop us a note at hello@thetreeapp.org so we can make things right.

  • Businesses invest in tree planting for both environmental and strategic reasons.

From an environmental standpoint, trees absorb carbon dioxide, restore degraded land and support biodiversity. Making tree planting a practical, measurable way for businesses to contribute to climate and nature-positive goals.

From a strategic standpoint, tree planting helps companies deliver on their CSR and ESG commitments. It provides a clear, reportable action they can include in sustainability reports, align with net-zero pathways and communicate to stakeholders. Supporting tree planting also reinforces brand values around environmental responsibility and gives employees a tangible way to engage with their organisation’s purpose.

  • Yes. With Treeapp, you can choose the country where your trees are planted – from tropical mangroves in Indonesia to mountain forests in Nepal or biodiversity hotspots in Brazil.

Each location delivers a unique environmental and social benefit, allowing you to support the causes that matter most to you, whether that’s protecting wildlife, preventing floods or creating fair-wage employment in local communities.

For larger partnerships or private forest projects, you can also request a specific site or region, giving your impact a more personal and meaningful connection.

  • Treeapp offers flexible solutions to help businesses meet sustainability their goals through tree planting:

Flexible planting options: one-off tree planting and monthly plans

Automated integrations: plant trees for every order, customer, event or employee, using our API or no-code Zapier tools.

Measurable impact: access reporting dashboards to track trees planted, project locations and contribution to company sustainability targets.

To get started with any of our solutions, sign up for a free account here or reach out to us for more information.

  • The cost varies depending on the location. For the majority of our global sites, the price is £1 per tree. However, planting costs for some of the projects in the  Americas, Europe, Middle East and Asia may vary.

Some planting sites cost more because maintaining them requires additional resources. These locations often need extra water, higher-quality soil amendments, or specialised care that increases the overall expense. The seeds chosen for these areas may also be more costly due to their quality or suitability for that environment. In some cases, planting and upkeep require more labor or equipment, which adds to the total cost. These factors together make certain planting sites more expensive than others for us to operate.

Please contact us at hello@thetreeapp.org for more information regarding pricing in your preferred regions.

  • We believe in the importance of transparency in tree planting and strive to keep everyone informed about the progress of their trees.

  • Treeapp helps companies turn their CSR commitments into measurable environmental and social impact. By funding tree planting projects, businesses directly contribute to global reforestation, biodiversity restoration and fair-wage employment in local communities.

Each project is carefully selected for its environmental and social value, making it easy for companies to align their CSR goals with meaningful action. Treeapp provides transparent, data-rich impact metrics that companies can share with employees, customers and stakeholders, including:

    • Trees planted • Carbon absorbed • Workdays created for local communities • Species planted and more…

These metrics are delivered through accessible dashboards, satellite imagery, on-the-ground updates and annual impact reports, helping businesses showcase their progress with confidence and credibility.

Whether a company wants to strengthen its CSR strategy, support biodiversity, balance its carbon footprint or demonstrate transparent sustainability leadership, Treeapp provides the tools and reporting to make it happen.

  • Treeapp has partnered with 2,000+ organisations or governments to integrate meaningful sustainability and CSR initiatives into their operations.

You can explore detailed examples of how businesses use Treeapp in the Case Studies section of our blog.

If you’d like to learn more or discuss a potential partnership, feel free to reach out to our team.

  • The Treeapp API allows your business to automate and customise tree planting, for example planting a tree for every order placed, every customer acquired or every employee onboarded. It lets you connect your internal systems directly to Treeapp’s tree planting services, making integration seamless and efficient.

Through the API, you can also access detailed, customised statistics on your company’s impact, including the total number of trees planted, estimated CO₂ absorbed over their lifetime, land restored, and workdays created for local communities, providing a clear, data-driven view of your environmental and social impact.

  • The nature of our API is to make it easy to integrate with whatever you wish, so while we can answer questions and provide guidance, we wouldn’t be able to do the development and integration within your systems. Many clients who we work with implement the API themselves, but it’s also possible to hire a freelancer or agency to do it on your behalf as a small project.

  • All over the world!

Trees planted through the API are distributed across Treeapp’s global planting sites, focusing on the areas where reforestation is needed most. We carefully choose locations based on local environmental needs, biodiversity priorities and the right planting season. This ensures your trees have the greatest possible impact, helping degraded forests recover, protecting wildlife, and supporting local communities.

You can learn more about our planting operations, including the regions and ecosystems we restore, on our tree planting page here.

  • Nothing - it’s free! You only pay for the trees you wish to plant.

  • The Impact API includes the total number of trees your business has planted, an estimate of the kilograms of CO₂ your trees will absorb over their average lifetime and the number of workdays created for local communities involved in the planting and maintenance of the trees.

These metrics give you a clear picture of both the environmental and social impact of your tree planting efforts.

  • Currently, our API is only for planting trees but we are looking to grow our offering in the future.

  • To start using the Treeapp API, you first need to create a business account on our portal.

Once your account is set up, you can generate an API key, which is what allows your systems to communicate securely with Treeapp. During this process, you’ll select your preferred payment method, either by invoice or by card.

PS: If you want to generate a test API key so you can test the API, reach out to us and we’ll give you a test key.

You can create multiple API keys within the same account, and each key can be linked to a different payment method. This is useful if you want to manage payments separately for different departments, projects, or accounting preferences, giving you full flexibility over how your tree planting costs are handled.

  • Yes.

No personal or payment details are used in our APIs, these are only required to create an account on our website and are never exposed publicly. To protect your account even further, all API usage is secured with your own unique API key to prevent others from accessing your details or data. We also don’t store any of your payment details, this is all handled by our payment providers’ secure systems.

  • In order to use our API, you’ll need to head to Integrations in your business account and click on “+ Add a new API key” to add a payment method. This can be a payment card or you can opt to pay by invoice and pay via whatever method suits you.

Billing works on a usage-based subscription, this means that you will be billed monthly, with all of your tree planting requests from the month processed at once. We use Stripe’s secure payments gateway to process both payments and invoices. With the Impact API reports, you can see current unpaid trees if you want to preview what you will be charged.

  • The API uses REST, with the request & response payloads formatted in JSON. See samples in our API documentation.

  • We have comprehensive API documentation. If you cannot find the answer to your question, please feel free to reach out to us here, and we’ll be happy to help!

  • Yes!

While the API is a powerful option, there are other ways to work with Treeapp. You can purchase trees directly through our website, either as one-time contributions or via recurring subscriptions.

You can also use Zapier to connect Treeapp with thousands of apps you already use, no coding required, making it easy to incorporate tree planting into your existing workflows.
